![]() Madonna GETTY IMAGES Reuters reports that the 49-year-old singer decided to take on the project after seeing how limited education is for women in this African country. The majority are raised to stay home and care for their families. "A task force of four prominent Malawians has already been formed to head the project which will be on the scale of what Oprah Winfrey has in South Africa," Alan Chinula, Madonna's lawyer stated. Winfrey's foundation has spent $40 million on its girls academy, which has laboratories, a beauty salon and yoga studio. Ever since Madonna started the ongoing process to adopt little David in 2005, the singer has promoted various projects in Malawi, including producing a music video about children with Aids. Madge –who just released her album Hard Candy– and husband, Guy Ritchie, adopted David, who was abandoned by his father at an orphanage after the boy's mother died. They were later accused by David's father of using their fame and money to violate certain adoption legal proceedings in his country. |
