Shakira doesn’t just shake her hips and delight her fans with her music, she is also a philanthropist who takes social justice to heart. That’s why she just signed a deal with editorial house Santillana to guarantee excellence in education at the Colombian schools benefited by her foundation Pies Descalzos.

“At first the deal will apply to three Pies Descalzos schools: La Victoria, in Quibdó; Las Américas, in Barranquilla, and Gabriel García Márquez, in Soacha”, María Emma Mejía, President of Pies Descalzos stated on Televisa’s TV show La oreja.

Pies Descalzos was founded by Shakira in 2001 and was named after her successful first album. The foundation helps around 4 thousand 130 children.

The singer of Hips Don’t Lie said she would make sure the deal would be implemented, supervising this new venture. Although she has a busy work schedule to tend to, the singer said helping those in need is among her top priorities.
