The Telemundo network has decided to cancel the late-night variety show Más vale tarde con Alex Cambert, which airs Thursdays at 11:30 p.m., Eastern Time. In a brief statement, reps for the network informed that the program’s final transmission will be on May 8. Más vale tarde was the first Latino late-night show in the U.S.

According to the statement, the show, which is hosted by comedian Alex Cambert, 39, was not doing as well with viewers as was anticipated. The audience “did not respond as we would have liked them to, and the show did not deliver the ratings performance we expected,” the message said.

Más vale tarde will be replaced by the sports program Titulares y más, which will air five days a week.
