Emilio Navaira should consider himself a lucky man. After suffering a near-fatal blow to the head in an accident and spending weeks in a Houston hospital’s intensive care unit, the Tejano singer is showing clear signs of getting better.

"The singer can eat on his own, he says short phrases and remembers his family members, but he doesn’t remember the accident,” a television program informed, explaining that his condition has gone from critical to stable.

Navaira, 46, was driving his tour bus a few weeks ago when the vehicle collided with traffic barrels on a Houston highway. After the accident, he was put in a medically induced coma to avoid aggravating the cerebral hemorrhage that threatened to take his life. At that time, doctors explained that if he survived, Navaira would go through a long recuperation period and risk permanent physical damage.
