The members of La Oreja de Van Gogh are denying on their blog last week’s news that Edurne García, winner of Spanish reality singing show Operación Triunfo (Canal Satélite Digital), would become their new vocalist. On Nov. 20, the group’s former singer Amaia Montero announced that she would be leaving the band she spent 11 years with, in order to pursue a solo career.

“As many of you know, a rumor’s been spreading that Edurne is going to be our new singer. And it’s just that, a rumor started as a practical joke on Dec. 28…We understand that you’re very excited to find out who’ll be the new singer (we are too), but for your own well-being, we’re asking that you don’t pay attention to anything you hear, because as soon as there’s a new singer, we’ll tell you all about it on our blog,” explained guitar player Pablo, bass player Álvaro and keyboard player Sabih San Martín.

So, everything seems to indicate that the news was just a joke. Even we can be fooled.
