Singer Belinda and rock bands Maná and Camila were the top winners at the MTV Video Music Awards Latin America, each taking home two awards – tongue-shaped statues – on an unforgettable night in Mexico City.

The group Maná was honored twice, winning the Best Group or Duo and Artist of the Year awards. Mexican rocker Belinda was awarded two tongues, one for Video of the Year (“Bella traición”), and another for Best Solo Artist. The audience must have preferred other artists, though, because they booed the group and singer. But neither of the winners seemed bothered by the jeers.

Mexican band Camila also nabbed two awards: Revelation Artist and Best New Artist North.

Canadian rocker Avril Lavigne hit the Latin awards show to collect her tongue for Best International Pop Artist, while Robert Smith of The Cure won the Influencia Award, which honors an influential artist in the music industry.

Actor Diego Luna (Y Tu Mamá También) hosted the show for the third time. An audience of more than 10,000 attended the event at Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico.
