“The family has been working on this for many years. I cried a lot, but the tears had a soothing effect on the inside. It’s been the greatest gift that my son has given me,” the 68-year-old actress told Europa Press news agency when she returned to Spain.
Even though the Oscar win is a huge honor for her 38-year-old son, the proud mother warned that people shouldn’t get too caught up in awards. “You have to approach these things like a short break on the road of life,” explained the actress after saying that she would still consider her a winner even if his name hadn’t been called at the Academy Awards. “He was already a winner for having worked with directors whom he admires, and also for working on a project that was honored as best picture of the year, won best directors and best adapted screenplay awards,” she added.
