A.B. Quintanilla: “There Will Never Be Another Selena...”

The Quintanilla family.

How much more could Selena have achieved in her musical career?

The question surfaces in the minds of many when listening to any of her hits. Although the answer will never be known, the truth is her musical legacy refuses to die.

“We have tried to keep the memory of Selena alive with her music, but the people have been instrumental in doing that,” said A.B. Quintanilla.

The singer's brother was onstage at Festival People en Español, which is held in San Antonio, Texas, participating in an emotional family chat. Accompanying him were sister Suzette as well as Selena’s parents Abraham and Marcela.

Seventeen year’s after Selena’s death, the Quintanilla clan is still emotional when they talk about their beloved. Her mother could not hold back the tears during part of the interview.

Abraham remembered Selena as an artist who was very dedicated to her projects, while Suzette referred to her as loving and fun.

The family said they were planning something special to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the singer’s passing.

Armando Correa, People en Español editorial director, gave the family a commemorative cover of a recent issue featuring Selena.
