The High School Musical star is resting following his emergency operation

On Tuesday, youth idol Zac Efron was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles to have his appendix removed, People.com reports. His rep confirmed the news and added that the actor is currently recovering.

The High School Musical star is resting up so that he continue working on the film Seventeen, which also stars Matthew Perry.

Recently, Disney execs announced that Efron, along with Musical co-stars Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Blue and Monique Coleman, have officially signed on to do the third and final installment of the popular movies, High School Musical 3: Senior Year.
