Valentín Elizalde.
The Attorney General's office of Mexico told Milenio newspaper that El Flander I – who at one time was enlisted in the Mexican Army – was formerly a hit man of a Golfo Cartel faction called Los Zetas, under drug trafficker Osiel Cárdenas Guillén.
According to Terra.com, Mexican police speculate that the musician was killed because of his song "A mis enemigos," which is widely believed to be a message to Los Zetas from Sinaloa Cartel member Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán.
Elizalde, his manager Mario Mendoza and chauffeur Raymundo Bellesteros were murdered in November 2006 while driving in their SUV near the border town Reynosa, Mexico.
