Marisol Aguirre Files for Divorce from Christian Meier

Reports inform that Aguirre and her husband are separating after an alleged abuse incident

Without explaining the reasons behind the decision, Peruvian actor Christian Meier announced in a press release that he and his wife, Marisol Aguirre, are getting divorced.

According to the Peruvian media, the actress took the first steps toward divorce after an alleged incident of abuse. Aguirre, 36, supposedly went to a Lima police station to press charges against Meier, 36, who's accused of physical and psychological abuse.

The Zorro TV star refused to speak publicly about the issue out of respect for their children, but he did say that they are definitely separating, according to reports from journalist Pamela Vértiz's radio show Reporte semanal.

Meier and Aguirre met when they starred on the telenovela Gorrión. They married in 1995 and have three kids: Stefano, 11, Taira, 5, and Gia, 4.
