JLo's Grandmother Passes Away

The Puerto Rican singer returned to the Bronx yesterday to say goodbye to Julia Rodríguez, who died on Saturday

Jennifer López put her tour on hold yesterday and headed back to the Bronx, NY, to say goodbye to her maternal grandmother, Julia Rodríguez, who died on Saturday, Oct. 20, while the singer was giving a concert in Los Angeles.

Noticeably saddened, the 38-year-old artist wore all black and covered her eyes with dark sunglasses at Holy Cross church on Soundview Ave. According to the newspaper Daily News, JLo was always surrounded by family and her loving husband, Marc Anthony, 39.

Rodríguez was a seamstress and JLo's inspiration for opening her restaurant Madre's in Pasadena, CA, which features a menu of her family's favorite Hispanic dishes.

The singer's mother, Guadalupe López, said that her mother was devoted to her church, and that she always put her family before everything else. "I love you. You will always be in my heart," she expressed through tears.

More than 100 people attended the funeral. Some stopped to comfort López before leaving. The age of the deceased is not known.
