Director Fernando Meirelles confirmed that Dolores Fonzi and the Mexican actor are having a boy

Although Gael García Bernal didn't want to reveal the sex of his baby during at the premiere of Blindness in the Toronto International Film Festival, Gael García Bernal the Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles couldn't keep it under wraps and told People.com that the Mexican's firstborn will be a boy.

"It's a chico! A boy!" he gleefully told PEOPLE. "I was talking to him about [the baby] today and he's so excited. He said he's had time to prepare and he's really looking forward to it."

While his rep confirmed, Bernal didn't elaborate on having a boy, but did share his reaction to hearing the news about his impending fatherhood.

"Like everyone's reaction," he said. "Happiness!"
