The Associated Press reported that when the "La gasolina" singer, 32, heard the news about the record breaking sales, he "started screaming with joy."
"Caribbean Cinemas reported that it was the best selling movie ever on opening day. There were 12 thousand tickets sold, and counting," said the film's producer Jorge Rivera. "We're very surprised. We expected a good turnout, but not this good!" he admitted.
