Britney's 16-Year-Old Sister Pregnant

Jamie Lynn Spears and her 19-year-old boyfriend are expecting a child

Britney Spears's younger sister is pregnant at age 16. Jamie Lynn Spears, the star of Zoey 101 (Nickelodeon), is 12 weeks along. The father is her boyfriend, 19-year-old Casey Aldridge. Jamie Lynn and her mother, Lynne Spears, confirmed the news to a U.S. magazine.

"It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected," Jamie Lynn told the publication. The pop star's younger sister explained that she found out she was expecting after taking a home pregnancy test and visiting a doctor. She only told one friend, then waited two weeks before telling anyone else. "I needed to work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone's opinion affect my decision. Then I told my parents and my friends. I was scared, but I had to do what was right for me," she continued.

Britney's little sister told her parents just before Thanksgiving. "I didn't believe it because Jamie Lynn's always been so conscientious," the teenager's mother told the magazine. "She's never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby."

Representatives from Nickelodeon said the following of the situation in a statement: "We respect Jamie Lynn's decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn's well being."

Jamie Lynn is currently a junior in high school. She's 10 years younger than her big sister, who has two children with Kevin Federline.
